American video-sharing website Youtube has on Tuesday confirmed that it has no plans of canceling its original dramas and comedies after it was recently reported that they found it expensive. In fact, a source at the Youtube said that the video platform is set to release several scripted projects which are currently in development.
The representative of the Google-owned platform said Youtube is also developing new series and formats that will appeal to a global audience through a new ad-supported model. The content is set to release by the end of the year. However, it was earlier reported that Youtube has canceled running two shows which were already in development. While the first one is called Origin, a 10 part sci-fi series, the other is a half-hour comedy called Overthinking with Kat & June.
Interestingly, Youtube is busy not with just one or two shows but has as many as six shows in the development phase. The upcoming shows include Cobra Kai, a reboot of Karate Kid, as well as Impulse, Liza on Demand, Escape the Night and Step Up: High Water, among other unannounced shows.
