"Abhishek (Bachchan) worked with him in Antarmahal, Jaya (Bachchan) in Sunglass and Aishwarya (Rai Bachchan) in Chokher Bali and Raincoat. His thought process was so clear and so vivid in the wat he made his films and chose the subjects that he wished to make," says Bachchan in the video, about the 12-time National Award-winning filmmaker.
Rama Kamal Mukherjee's film Season's greetings, which also happens to be India's first film to have an official collaboration with the United Nations under the Free and Equal fro LGBTQIA cause is an effort to pay a fitting tribute to the acclaimed filmmaker. "I think No one is a better choice than Bachchan to unveil the poster since the entire family has worked with Rituparno and know him personally and shared a beautiful bond.
I have heard from Rituparno and also from Vidya Balan how Rituparno used to have long telephonic conversations with Jaya Bachchan in Bengali and often Amitabh would also converse with him in Bengali. That was the kind of bond the family shared. And it's so gracious and kind of Bachchan to find time for me and come in support of my film on Rituparno Ghosh," says Ram Kamal Mukherjee.
Produced by Assorted Motion Pictures and SS1 Entertainment, the film stars Celina Jaitly Haag, Lillette Dubey and Azhar Khan and is expected to release on any of the big web platforms post-Diwali. Mukherjee had also made a short, Cakewalk starring Esha Deol Takhtani.
