Zaira Wasim molested during flight, perpetrator arrested
17-year-old Dangal actor Zaira Wasim reported an incident on a flight where she felt a man's foot from the seat behind moving "up and down her neck and back". She retold her story on a live Instagram video after she had landed, breaking down several times.
"I was in a flight travelling from Delhi to Mumbai today, and right behind me one middle-aged man who made my two-hour journey miserable," she said. "I tried to record it on phone to understand it better because the cabin lights were dimmed, I failed to get it. . . It continued for another five to ten minutes and then I was sure of it. He kept nudging my shoulder and continued to move his foot up and down my back and neck."
"Is this how you're going to take care of girls?" she continued. "This is not the way anybody should be made to feel. This is terrible! No one will help us if we don't decide to help ourselves. And this is the worst thing."
Police tracked down the man from the flight, and arrested him in Mumbai on Sunday. According to Times of India, the man has been identified as 39-year-old Vikas Sachdeva.
Vistara Airlines apoligised to Wasim on Twitter, saying that they have "zero tolerance for such behaviour", and released two follow up statements on the matter.
