Ever since the film for Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi commenced, it has been shrouded in a lot of controversy with regards to the directorial hat. However, Kamal Jain, producer of the film has cleared the air in a recent interview and went on to say that the actor should get credit for directing the film as she has done most of it.

Director Krish started with the direction of the film but had to leave it soon after because of prior commitments and Kamal said they couldn’t leave the film the way it was because it needed to be completed. And, since Kangana was a part of the film right from the beginning and was involved even in the costume design, art and even camera, she seemed like the ideal option. With Kangana donning the director’s hat, they decided to reshoot some scenes and she was a part of 70 percent of the production, since then.

Kamal went on to add that at no point in time did the crew feel like it was her directorial debut and the credit is due to anyone who has even worked for one day on his set. The trailer for the film, which is set to release tomorrow, will also have Ankita Lokhande and Danny Denzongpa in important roles.
