Miss Philippines Catriona Gray was crowned Miss Universe 2018, for the pageant which was held in Muang Thong Thani, Pak Kret, Thailand. Interestingly, Catriona is the fourth Filipino to get the title and was handed over the crown by Demi-Leigh Nel-Peters of South Africa, who won the title in 2017.

Catriona, 24-years-old, is also a model and singer, who was born in Cairns, Queensland to an Australian father, Ian Gray and Normita Ragas Magnayon, from Oas, Albay, in the Philippines. The model from the Philippines has an interest in the arts and also holds a masters certificate degree in Music Theory. The dress worn by Catriona, when she was crowned Miss Universe, is said to have been inspired by the famous Mayon volcano. However, she went on to reveal that her mother had a dream when she was 13, of her winning the pageant and receiving the crown in a red dress.

The beauty pageant winner is also an HIV/AIDS advocate for Love Yourself PH, while also being a volunteer as a Teacher’s Assistant, to the students of Young Focus NGO.
