Indian comedian Vir Das on Wednesday addressed the controversy surrounding 'The Simpsons' in a tweet questioning Bollywood's treatment of white women in movies.

The actor tweeted saying that while America dwells on Apu, can Indians look at how the industry is portraying white women in its films.

'The Simpsons' has been embroiled in a controversy for stereotyping one of their characters called 'Apu'. The South-Asian character is a convenience store clerk with an exaggerated, probably fake accent since its inception.

Recently, a documentary called "The Problem With Apu" touched upon the fact about how 'The Simpsons'  created a certain image of a South Asian in the eyes of the world.
