Kerala’s very own internet sensation Priya Prakash Varrier who shot to fame earlier this year after a 10-second wink in a video has beaten Bollywood’s top celebrities to the top of Google search in India. The 19-year-old girl from Kerala appeared in the song Manikya Malaraya Poovi from Oru Adaar Love, and it went viral within two days making her the most popular celebrities this year.
The list sees Nick Jonas at second, Haryanvi singer Sapna Choudhary at third as Priyanka Chopra and Anand Ahuja follow at fourth and fifth. Interestingly, the Kerala star beat Bollywood personalities like Priyanka Chopra and Sonam Kapoor, even though there was a huge hype surrounding their weddings. Meghan Markle also made an appearance with the royal wedding earlier this year but did not seem popular enough as she came in at eighth on the list.
The witty Sara Ali Khan, Bollywood’s bad boy Salman Khan, Bigg Boss contestant and bhajan singer Anup Jalota as well as film producer Boney Kapoor featured in the top 10. While Sara Ali Khan is definitely for her bold self in Koffee With Karan Season 6, Jalota made it for the controversy around his personal life. Boney Kapoor, made it to the list, after the rumoured mysterious death of wife and Bollywood actor Sridevi.
