Bollywood director-producer Karan Johar on Thursday confirmed that he is producing a biopic on Kargil war hero Vikram Batra, with actor Sidharth Malhotra playing the lead role. Sidharth was launched by Karan Johar in the 2012 movie Student Of The Year and this will be his third movie with the director after Baar Baar Dekho in 2016.
The biopic is about a war hero Captain Vikram Batra of the 13 Jammu and Kashmir contingent, who fought in the Kargil war in June 1999 between India and Pakistan. He was awarded India's highest war-time gallantry award Param Vir Chakra posthumously and was often referred to as ‘'Sher Shah'’ (Lion King)
Sidharth Malhotra said that he finds Vikram Batra’s story inspirational will inspire people and bring a smile to everybody face. He went on to add that the shooting will commence this year and he is really excited to play the role. The film, produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions, will also be produced by Shabbir Boxwala and will be directed by Vishnu Varadhan, from a story written by Sandeep Srivastava.
