Some might remember Jitin Gulati from the film MS Dhoni: The Untold Story, in which he played Dhoni’s brother or  Season 2 of the TV show 24. But today, most global audiences know Jitin as the young man in love with another man from the short film Sisak. A silent film, Sisak deals with the problems faced by the LGBTQ community. But what’s more important for Jitin as an actor is the fact that this film has opened possibilities for him primarily because it showcases a different side to the actor.

“It was a challenging film to do. I didn’t have the support of words and had to emote only through my eyes. But this gave audiences a chance to perceive what they could. They could imagine conversations that could be happening in the minds of the actors on screen,” says Jitin. The actor who has trained under theatre stalwart Barry John has an insightful approach to the craft and that is what he says is reflected in Sisak. “For me, acting is a representation of real life. In real life, though a lot is spoken, we communicate through our actions and silences. Sisak is an example of that. And this film has won so many awards!” he tells us.

Among his other upcoming projects is Season 2 of Inside Edge, an Amazon web series. Jitin is part of the ensemble cast that is led by names such as Richa Chadha, Tanuj Virwani, Vivek Oberoi and Angad Bedi. Talking about web series, Jitin says, “It’s great to play a protagonist, but for me as an actor, the project is more important. In series like Inside Edge, I get to play my role again each season and that’s the advantage over a film where one plays a character just once.” Jitin will also be seen in Broken, another web series, which revolves around relationships, on ALT Balaji.
