Days after Anurag Kashyap got embroiled in the controversy surrounding Vikas Bahl and sexual harassment allegations against him, the director has said he kept quiet for only one reason. Anurag Kashyap and Vikramaditya Motwane have been at the receiving end of a defamation case by Vikas Bahl, and the former said he had kept quite all these years to only protect the victim.

The director, who dissolved Phantom Films immediately after the allegations has denied inaction in the case, even though he and Vikramaditya knew about it. Anurag added that there is need to understand and grow up to the movement which has taken the industry by storm. He said that all these years he was trying to protect the victim but will not saying anything right now because whatever he does say will be misconstrued, and taken out of context. However, he is ready to face all the consequences and has also stepped back from work for the same reason.

The woman, who accused Vikas Bahl, did file an affidavit and said she stands by whatever she said but will not file a case. On the other hand, Bahl has filed an affidavit against partners Anurag, Vikramaditya and Madhu Mantena from speaking to the media or sharing any sort of details on social media. In a separate case, the defamation suit against Kashyap and Motwane is after they said he had confessed to them about the various incidents with several women.
