Bollywood actor Ranveer Singh has come a long way from his first film Band Baaja Baaraat and is now one of the most sought-after actors in Bollywood. However, director Maneesh Sharma revealed that when he cast the Padmaavat actor for his first film, a lot of people around him did not think it was a good idea because he was a newcomer and thought it wouldn’t work out at all.
According to a recent interview with Anupama Chopra, Maneesh, who was also a making his directorial debut said Ranveer Singh’s casting made all the people around him doubt the success of the film. Even his family was unsure about the actor and questioned his choice, especially because it was a film with the Yashraj production house and usually only big stars are cast in their movies. However, the Fan director said he went with his gut and had a good feeling about the pairing of Ranveer and Anushka Sharma, who was acting in her second film then.
As of today, Ranveer Singh is busy working on two films simultaneously, Simmba and Gully Boy and both of the films are expected to hit, given his energy and character. While one has been directed by Rohit Shetty, the other is directed by Zoya Akhtar and will also star Alia Bhatt.
