Indian cricketers Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul created quite a stir after they made inappropriate comments on Koffee With Karan Season 6 in January, earlier this year. While they were sent back from Australia, many people demanded strict action against both of them. Four months later, ahead of the World Cup, the BCCI has fined both the cricketers for their comments on Karan Johar's popular talk show.

The announcement was made on the BCCI website, earlier today by DK Jain, an official of the Indian cricketing body investigating the issue. He said the players have to pay one lakh each to the widows of 10 constables in the paramilitary forces, who have lost their lives on duty. Both, Hardik and Rahul will also donate the other designated 10 lakh amount to the fund created for the promotion of cricket for visually impaired people in India. However, the announcement has a condition, which states that if the cricketers do not pay the amounts in four weeks, BCCI will deduct the amount from their match fee. The statement by Jain, further added that the cricketers are role models for the youth in the country, so they should conduct themselves in a befitting nature in public.

However, DK Jain said since both the players had apologised for their comments on the show, it does not constitute as a violation of rules laid down by the BCCI. Interestingly, since Hardik Pandya and KL Rahul have been in exceptional form on the cricket field, they have been included in the World Cup squad for India to be played in June in the UK.
