After Karan Johar took to Twitter to introduced Lakshya, who will be making his debut with Dharma Productions's Dostana 2, speculations began about his connection with the Bollywood.
While one wrote, "whose son is he? You should have mentioned it (here) because people like us don't follow star kids religiously," another asked, "Mr Nepotism, please tell his lineage." A tweet even suggested that he has been seen earlier on Television, "Lakshya is an Indian model and television actor who rose to fame after playing the role of Parth in MTV India's Warrior High. In 2015, he played the role of Madhav/Krish in &TV's Adhuri Kahaani Hamari. In 2017, he played the role of Porus in Sony TV's Porus."
Putting them to rest, Karan made another Tweet saying that Lakshya has no Bollywood backing and has been selected through an audition.
"Yes, I woke up to several inquiries asking about his film industry connections! He is not from the business and went through a legit audition process! Am grateful to Shanoo Sharma for introducing Lakshya to Dharma Productions," he wrote. However, he neither denied or confirmed if Lakshya has done television earlier.
On Instagram, Karan shared Lakshya's Instagram handle, a new account where the debutant has described himself as a 'dreamer'.
"Overwhelmed, grateful & down right EXCITED for this wonderful new beginning! Thank you for this welcome into the #Dharma family, can't wait to get started on #Dostana2! @Dharmamovies," reads his only post.
Debutant Lakshya will be joining actors Kartik Aaryan and Janhvi Kapoor in the second installment of Dostana 2, which is a sequel to the 2008 film Dostana that featured Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham and Priyanka Chopra in lead roles.
