Earlier in the day, Karan Johar shared a series of posters from his upcoming production Gunjan Saxena - The Kargil Girl starring Janhvi Kapoor.
Directed by Sharan Sharma, the film is based on the life of Flight Officer Gunjan Saxena who made history when she flew into a combat zone during the Kargil War (1999) and evacuated injured soldiers. She was the only woman who was involved in the Kargil War was later bestowed with Shaurya Chakra for her courage.
Sharing the first poster, Karan Johar wrote, "she was told ladkiyan pilot nahin banti, but she stood her ground & wanted to fly!"
The second poster shows Janhvi Kapoor in uniform.
Scheduled to release on March 13, 2020, the film stars Pankaj Tripathi, Vineet Kumar Singh and Angad Bedi in important roles. While Pankaj plays Janhvi’s onscreen father Lt Col (retd) A. Saxena, Angad essays the role of her brother. The last poster shows Pankaj Tripathi him hugging his daughter.
Talking about his character in the film, Pankaj had earlier told IANS, “I liked the character very much. I am having a lot of fun while shooting for the film. Janhvi is a very sincere actress. She respects me a lot and I too respect her for the sincerity and commitment towards her work. Sharan is a very talented director and is well versed with his craft. It’s an opportunity to work under Dharma Productions.”
