Filmmaker Indrasis Acharya set to begin shooting for his next film, Maya Bhoy
Young filmmaker Indrasis Acharya, who's known for such acclaimed films as Biloo Rakhhosh, Pupa and upcoming film, Parcel, has already finished the recce in North Bengal and Dooars for his upcoming film Maya Bhoy's shooting.
This is for the first time that the director will be plotting his story around an idea borrowed from Sanjib Chattopadhyay's well-known novel Bhoy.
"It's only the basic idea that I have taken from the novel but the entire story is new and contextual, and again like all my movies, thought-provoking," tells Indrasis.
In this film, Deepa, the main protagonist's childhood was spent amidst selfish people who took no time to change colours at convenience. But soon after her mother's untimely demise, Deepa left her claustrophobic existence at her father's place for her maternal uncle's house, where the people and surroundings were incredibly good. It's while living with her uncle's family that Deepa realised that she was wronged before by many people. These created an existential crisis within her and she learnt how to expunge those recurring thoughts from her mind with the help of her her family and friends around.
"It's again a very deeply psychological movie with layers of human emotions that I will try to explore. No one in my movies has a straight jacket personality, just like we don't have a straight unidimensional personality in real life. We are all shades of greys," tells the director, who recently received the best director award for his upcoming movie Parcel at the Kolkata International Film Festival held in November.
Parcel, Starring Rituparna Sengupta and Saswata Chatterjee in the lead, again delves deep into the insecurities and suspicions that breed deep down in human minds and surface when we go through grave crises in life. The movie is slated for an early 2020 release.
Presented by Rabindranath Chakraborty and produced by Zenith Production House, Maya Bhoy will be shot in February 2020. The camera work will be done by Santanu De, editing by Souvik Dasgupta and music will be composed by Joy Sarkar. The movies cast include Anuradha Mukherjee, who also convincingly reprised the role of the younger sister in Shieladitya Moulik's Sweater, Rahul Arunoday Banerjee, Tota Roy Chowdhury and Aparajit Ghosh Das.
