Kaushik Ganguly to direct his son Ujaan in Lokhhi Chele produced by Shiboprosad and Nandita Roy
It's great news for the Bengali movie-going audience. Two of the finest filmmakers of the time are getting together to come up with another gem of a film. We are talking about none other than National Award-winning director Kaushik Ganguly and filmmaker duo Shiboprosad Mukherjee and Nandita Roy. Ganguly will be working under the director duo's production banner, Windows and will be directing his son Ujaan Ganguly for the first time in his film Lokhhi Chele (Good Boy).
The movie -- to be scripted and directed by Ganguly -- will go on floors form this August but Ganguly is tight-lipped about the plot. This will be Ujaan's second movie after his super hit debut in Rosogolla last December. "It's my first movie with windows and I am feeling very happy to be working with such a hugely popular and successful production house. In this movie, I will be directing my son, Ujaan and I hope that as a director and a father I am able to underscore and bring out some more facets of an actor in him. It's also an important day in Bengali cinema since such collaborations among filmmakers will only go a long way to benefit the industry," feels Kaushik Ganguly.
In fact, it was Nandita Roy, who spotted Ganguly's talent as a filmmaker decades back when she was heading a private entertainment channel after she saw his first work Bhalobasha Mondobasha where Shiboprosad played the lead. It's after a good many decades that the three are coming together. "We wanted for a long time now to work with Kaushik. So, we thought it would be great to get him direct his son's second film? If Karan Johar and Anurag Kashyap or Vidhu Vinod Chopra and Rajkumar Hirani can work together in Bollywood, then why can't it happen here?" feels Shiboprosad.
"It's like a dream-come-true for me and my dad. I have always got my dad as a fun-loving friendly person ad to enter into a professional zone where he will be my director, it will be an experience I want to cherish forever," says Ujaan Ganguly, who will be playing the lead in this film.
