Fans of Salman Khan were sure left heartbroken when the actor took to Twitter on August 25 that his first film with Sanjay Leela Bhansali after a period of 19 years was being indefinitely postponed. The news that followed was that the movie which also featured Alia Bhatt in the lead role had been shelved all together.
However, in a recent interview, the Raazi star had gone on record to say, “I can give it to you in writing that I am going to work with Sanjay Leela Bhansali very soon." So, while has often papped Alia Bhatt at Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s office, the latest news is that Sonu Ki Titu Ki Sweety actor Kartik Aaryan has been roped in as the male lead for the movie Gangubai.
Gangubai is based on a chapter from Hussain Zaidi’s novel- Mafia Queens of Mumbai, and it focuses on Gangubai Kothewali, the matriarch of Kamathipura. While Bhansali was considering Priyanka Chopra to play the lead role in Gangubai, it is being reported that Bhansali is considering Alia Bhatt for the lead role. Well, if reports are to be true, Alia Bhatt and Kartik Aaryan may soon share screen space.
Alia Bhatt is currently shooting for Mahesh Bhatt’s Sadak 2, co-starring Aditya Roy Kapur, Sanjay Dutt and Pooja Bhatt, and she will also be paired opposite Ranbir Kapoor for the first time on screen in Ayan Mukerji’s Brahamstra.
