Did Rukmini Maitra shave her head for 'Boomerang'?

Actors Rukmini Maitra and Jeet are all set with their sci-fi comedy Boomerang, a first-of its-kind, directed by Sauvik Kundu, in which Rukmini will be seen playing dual roles, that of a woman, Isha and a humanoid, Nisha. But just the announcement of playing a humanoid or sharing a teaser of the characters weren't enough surprises it seems!

Rukmini took to her Instagram on Thursday to share a bold bald look from the movie. Rukmini, wearing an off-shoulder black top with blue eyes and pink lips seemed to be sporting the look of Nisha, the robot made by Jeet's character, Samar Sen. She wrote, "BOOM! BOOMERANG! P.S NOT PHOTOSHOPPED OR AI. Though NISHA is an AI generated Humanoid!"

Just like the film boasting of scientific gimmicks, is this one such gimmick too, or did Rukmini really shave her head, we are yet to find out. But one thing is for sure, this was indeed a bold step for any mainstream actor from the Bengali film industry in recent times. A few years back, actress Paoli Dam sported a bald look in the Netflix original series Bulbbul, and we remember Anushka Sharma sporting one for Ae Dil hai Mushkil but Rukmini's glam bald look is definitely creating a stir. And it seems that the film are all set to gift the audiences more such exciting and entertaining gimmicks that the Bengali film industry has never done before.

Apart from Jeet and Rukmini Maitra, the film that stars Rajatava Dutta, Saurav Das, and Debchandrima Singha Roy, is all set to have a theatrical release on June 7.
