Ranking every major The Big Bang Theory cameo in Stuart Fails to Save the Universe (so far)

With five episodes of Stuart Fails to Save the Universe released, we're deep into our return to the world of The Big Bang Theory. While the story is charting out a fun and wacky shift with a chaotic multiverse, Stuart (played by Kevin Sussman) and his friends are not only experiencing the wild consequences of trespassing each world but also meeting some interesting versions of some of the characters we came across in the original series.

With the half season now streaming, we rank all the cameos from the show!

Among all the main cast members returning from The Big Bang Theory Kunal Nayyar's return as Raj in the very first episode feel like the most perfect revival of the character. From gags about losing his newly married wife during their honeymoon after she was eaten by a moth to him being paranoid and a captive to Kripke’s post-apocalyptic warlord, this new spin-off season started off with a bang! (pun intended — viewers and geologists know why.)

In the fourth episode, we learn of Stuart's time in the bizarre and eerie, almost Truman Show-esque world where he is stuck in a psychiatric ward, one resembling the ambience of those shown in pop culture projects like Pleasantville and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. His time here is highlighted with the return of Amy Farrah Fowler. But instead of a genius neuroscientist practicing on various experiments, Mayim Bialik's Amy in this universe is a therapist who hilariously dismisses all of Stuart's descriptions regarding his experience with the multiverse. Given Mayim's real-life doctorate in neuroscience this feels like a perfect payoff in her character and adds various layers to the story as well.

Kaley Cuoco's return as Penny in the series' second episode was an exciting and hilarious reunion with Stuart's character. While bearing little resemblance to Penny from The Big Bang Theory story, this character is a rebel in a world where toxic positivity is the norm and normal human emoting is almost negligent. While very different from the original version, this universe's Penny does show us shades of the grounded and witty Penny who plays a perfectly hilarious contrast to Stuart’s chaoctic and shocked mumbling.

Melissa Rauch's Bernadette may have had the least resemblance among all the cameos to the character we came know in the original TV series. The makers giver her a complete makeover and turn her character in a literall Demon in episode 3, reflecting a case of — 'what is the most bonkers storyline we can give' this character' — in the writer's room.
