This Monday, all the biggest names in football will come together in Paris for the 64th edition of the prestigious Ballon d'Or ceremony. The event will see football superstars Cristiano Ronaldo and Lionel Messi battle it out for their sixth Ballon d'Or alongside other 28 nominees (men's category). The nominees will be voted for by over 180 journalists from around the world.

The 2018 Ballon d'Or saw a decade long domination by Messi and Ronaldo come to an end when Croatia's Luka Modric won the prestigious award. Although this year's votes suggest Messi, Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk is expected to give him a close fight.
