Being a supermodel is hard, but it's harder when your other supermodels BFFs are way more sought-after than you, especially on the the runway. Hailey Baldwin, who has steadily gained renown for being the face of several fashion and beauty brands, and has found her niche as a commercial model, revealed recently that she wasn't considered a real model by several people in the industry.
In a recent interview with a fashion magazine, Hailey revealed that in spite of being five-foot-eight she has consistently felt like she's not a 'runway girl.' Though the 23-year-old model has walked the runways for labels like Versace and Tommy Hilfiger, her close friends, the Hadid sisters and Kendall Jenner are obviously much more successful than her, especially as couture runway names.
Hailey, who just celebrated a year of marriage to pop sensation Justin Bieber, said that seeing Gigi and Bella Hadid and Kendall being a part of every major runway, made Hailey question her choice of profession. She also revealed that several casting directors did not take her seriously as a model, which hurt her career.
Hailey, who is the daughter of the actor-producer Stephen Baldwin also confessed that she has made her peace with not being able to do more runway shows, as a campaign-driven career has treated her well, and she does not look short in photos.
While Hailey's close friend Kendall is the highest paid model in the world right now, Gigi and Bella are in the top ten of that list. But Hailey, who has been building up cred an editorial model and currently has a very successful commercial career as a model, confesses that she is proud of the work that she's doing and feels like this is the right direction for her.
