Fancy some creepy crawlies for fashion? Well, that’s precisely what couturier Abhishek Dutta has to offer for dapper men this winter. “This season, we drew inspiration literally from the bugs around us. I wanted to showcase motifs from nature that are otherwise considered not-so-beautiful, and I have come up with a ritzy collection with a focus on the insects,” says Dutta.

Vibrant shades of blue, red, golden yellow and beige, apart from black, with various insect motifs and geometric patterns etched on them, can be found in Abhishek’s latest Autumn / Winter collection for men. The handwoven lightweight tuxedos, in interesting asymmetrical cuts, paired with equally colourful trousers in rich jewel tones, make a perfect choice for all formal occasions this winter.

“All the outfits in this edit have a lot of detailing in terms of texturisation, hand embroidery, leather applique and definitely, digital prints. This time around, we have successfully executed 3D embroidery of insects, lending a feel of real-life insects sitting on your fabric,” says Abhishek with a smile. And, there are quite a few very fashionable insects to choose from, including bugs, wasps and scorpions. Keeping the season in mind, the colour schemes include varying shades of greys and blues, olives and canary yellows. For the adventurous ones, there are some quirky options too, like pairing an ivory bomber jacket with a pair of red pencil trousers.

“A lot of interesting elements like collar motifs and lapel motifs made out of leather lend a winter feel to the entire edit,” he adds. Since winter season is not that chilly here, Dutta has restricted the choice of fabrics to heavy linens, raw silks and linen-denims, which are warm, comfortable and easy to handle. “A lot of asymmetries is happening this year, in terms of cuts, and I have incorporated different kinds of collar styles, extended pockets and asymmetrical hemlines to enhance the look,” elaborates Dutta.

We spotted a few really cool bomber jackets, tuxedos, bandhgalas and bundis, which can be teamed up with breeches, slim pants and even high-ankle trousers. One can play up the look by opting for short shirts over trousers, and wear a short jacket to go,” suggests Dutta.

A nice pair of leather shoes, or an interesting pair of loafers, can take up your look a few notches higher. But if you want that athleisure look, pair your bomber jacket with trendy sports shoes and rock the party!
