Divya Poddar and Sunaina Jalan of Istara, a quaint small gallery-cum-design space that serves as a platform to showcase and exhibit upcoming designers and their brands, are coming up with a two-day exhibition, Ethereal Ensembles, by En Inde and White Champa, where they will be showcasing the Spring/Summer collection of designers Anjana Das and Sonal Sood.
Anjana Das, who helms White Champa, has melded traditional embroidery with modern designs in her latest SS collection. White Champa’s collection is inspired by nature, specifically natural shapes and shades. Layers are affixed in meticulous hand appliqué techniques with overlaying motifs embroidered by hand. The entire collection is also Anjana’s homage to age-old techniques like shibori.
“The designs have taken into account the diverse geographies, and the collection is for all the self-assured women, who are looking to express themselves through their clothes. It’s for those who are ready to be embraced by the comfort of authentic, hand-made natural fabrics,” says Anjana.
Sonal Sood’s brand En Inde is crafted to address continual and evolving ideas of structure, environment and society. She uses vivid colours, reflective steel and natural fibre like jute to create stunning neckpieces and bracelets.
“We decided to curate the collection of these two designers because I loved their clothes and jewellery collection, which are forever wear and you can wear them any time anywhere. Besides, their apparel is perfect for the sultry weather here,” says Divya.
Preview on April 10 from 2.30 pm to 6.30 pm & Exhibition on April 11 from 11 am to 7 pm at 38 Paddapukur Road, Shivangi Building.
