The Vintage Silver collection by Sheetal Zaveri from the house of Vithaldas is a medley of modern touch and a whole lot of old-world glam. Sheetal started dabbling with design years ago, once she married into the family that owns the well-known Vithaldas Zaveri Jewellers. Her latest designs were first spotted on the runway when she collaborated with Mumbai-based designer Payal Singhal to create the ramp accessories. After the Lakmé Fashion Week outing, now the collection is available at Vithaldas outlets. Sheetal repurposes heirloom accessories and recreates new pieces, which has signature contemporary vibe. “I had even created a mangalsutra for myself from old pieces that the family had. It is then that I realised creating statement pieces from could be my forte,” she reminisces.

While attending to the patrons at the Vithaldas showrooms in Hyderabad, she realised that what most people here wanted was minimal jewellery that they could wear often. Since then, one of the prime focus of her creations has been wearability. She often digs into archival resources for vintage ornaments and sometimes even finds pieces that date back to the Mughal era. For her latest collection, she has crafted the accessories from pure sterling silver with gold accents on a few of them. These are not over the top but have a hint of drama. She carefully chooses her statement motifs — be it birds or other. You can also expect a fish and flower element to adorn your wrists in their creative cuffs or an exquisite flower on the stylish choker. There are dressy two-layered necklaces and statement earpieces that can elevate your look too. At the moment, Sheetal is working on a silver collection  inspired by Kundan designs. “It is for those who love this ancient craft but prefer it be set in silver rather than gold,” concludes Sheetal.
