YOUR EMBELLISHED AND shimmery metal clutches are now passe and it’s time you tap in to The Bag Tales and their aesthetic offerings. The passiondriven label started by friends Shetal Shah and Shrila Dayal, has rolled out their latest statement collection which is edgy and voguish.
Talking about the collection, Shetal says, “We started The Bag Tales for our undying love for bags and shopping. The idea behind our brand’s name was weaving a story, a ‘tale’ in every collection. We started it in February 2016 and our first collection was called All About Love.” The Mumbai-based fashion entrepreneur who hails from a nondesigning background further adds, “We draw our inspiration from different fabrics, seasons, regions, cultural trends and stories. Our clutches are chic, trendy, modern, and yet rooted in Indian culture.” Made of Rosewood, the bespoke clutches are handcrafted by a team of skilled artisans and craftsmen and their wooden purse has made many admirers from the world of glamour. The list includes Sonam K apoor Ahuja, Taapsee Pannu, Neha Dhupia, Anita Hassanandani, Kishwer Merchant, Niti Taylor among others. From smooth finish to textured ones, and rectangle to oval, the edit has an exciting range.
The well-defined grain pattern of the Sheesham wood gives it a unique hue which makes each piece exceptional. You can also find dominos and lotus-like structures in the design ele - ments. Lightweight and easy to carry, they also have a sling chain option and complement both Eastern and Western styles. Talking about maintenance, Shrila says, “The products are easy to maintain. They can be stored in any muslin or cotton bag or cover and it should be wiped periodically with any cloth to ensure longevity.”
After the success of their first collection, The Bag Tales have launched eight different collections, each with a definite identity like the Madhubani clutches, The Animal Kingdom collection and The Wedding Collection. Their forthcoming edit will concentrate more on denims and cater to the fashion sensibilities of millennials. Expect a mix of denim with pearls and thread work.
