Head to the Bengaluru chapter of Saree Speak to meet with other saree lovers
Saree Speak, a Facebook group dedicated to saree enthusiasts, is all set to host The Bangalore Saree Speak Meet. To be held on the lawns of Hotel Royal Orchid, the event will feature talks and discussions besides dance performances.
The event, which kicks off at 11 am on November 30, will start with a welcome note by Aparna Rao, the organiser of the Bengaluru chapter. This will be followed by a talk on the topic ‘Handloom Industry in the 21st Century’ by Vipra Mudayya of Bengaluru-based handloom saree brand, Vimor. Anju Kadam, a well known ‘saree evangelist’ will then hold a session on the topic ‘What Story Are You Wearing Today.’ Both topics will be followed by a Q&A session with the audience.
The meet will feature vocal performances by singers Divya Raghavan and Roli Saraswat, and group dances by Soman Bolar and her troupe, and Yashaswini and Prakruti and their troupe. Other highlights include music by a DJ and a photo booth.
Created in April 2016, the Facebook group has over 1.2 lakh members and their Instagram page has a following of over 30,000. The group started as a photo sharing platform and is today a knowledge-sharing forum, connecting saree lovers from across the globe.
