Promoting Italian gastronomy, the Italian Consulate in Kolkata recently organised Week of Italian Cuisine in the World, with a host of gastronomic and cultural exchanges.
In it's fourth year, the weeklong celebration concentrating on food, education and culture brought the city closer to Italian traditions and strengthened the relationship between the two culturally rich nations. While gala dinners, food tasting sessions and cooking workshops at star properties like Hyatt Regency, ITC, Taj Bengal and Novotel and Glenburn Penthouse brought delights to city gourmands, an exchange programme with a group of Italian students and IIHM exposed young minds to the rich culture of India through the culinary routes. Enriching the experience of amateur as well as professional culinary enthusiasts in the city were Chefs Andrea Misseri and Paolo Risica who were in the city for special sessions.
Literally brightening the festival was the exhibition of lamps and chandeliers at LightKrafts in New Town that exposed the city to the shared interest, in the art of the luminous home decor items, between the two countries.
