Instagram confirms that bug caused change in follower counts, aims to fix it by Friday
The bug had apparently also affected Indian users, public figures and influencers who complained about the issue.

After users complained about the sudden missing of followers, social networking application Instagram confirmed that a bug has been causing some accounts’ follower numbers to change.
“We’re aware of an issue that is causing a change in account follower numbers for some people right now. We’re working to resolve this as quickly as possible,” the company said on Twitter.

Fans of pop stars including Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande were quick to point out how the IG queens lost as many as 3 million followers overnight. The bug had apparently also affected Indian users, public figures and influencers who complained about the issue.
The Instagram bug was reported just hours after Twitter got infected with a similar bug that caused constant fluctuations on the number of 'Likes' and 'Retweets' on the platform - making users wonder if accounts were being suspended in mass or if Twitter was deleting them.
