The Raza Foundation has expressed its deepest condolences over the passing of renowned Hindi poet-critic Kunwar Narayan. As a responsible modern, he explored some of the existential and perennial themes of the meaning of life and death, the Raza Foundation noted.

“A fine intellect, a critical and rigorous rasik of music, cinema, poetry and philosophy, and a civilized human being, Kunwar Narayan will be sorely missed for his unfailing generosity, calm, inspiring intellect and creative presence,” Raza Foundation Managing Trustee Ashok Vajpeyi said.

A noted presence in Hindi literature for over six decades, Narayan was the recipient of several awards including the Bharatiya Gyanpeeth Samman, the Sahitya Akademi award and Padma Bhushan. He passed away in Delhi on Wednesday at the age of 90.
