The ITC Royal Bengal, ITC Limited's much-anticipated 14th Luxury Collection hotel was inaugurated yesterday by the states' chief minister Mamata Banerjee, with all the high and mighty present at the occasion. This 133 metres tall, 30-storey property worth Rs 1,400 crores, looks nothing short of a towering palace standing tall amidst other five-star addresses on the location and is a homage to the eternal traditions and heritage of Bengal and is one-of-a-kind in terms of grandeur and class.
The 456-key iconic behemoth has a mammoth 16400 sq ft of pillarless ballroom area and another 33,000 sq ft to that including pre-function areas and outer courtyards -- ideal for a grand wedding destination. The exquisite lobbies and sprawling lawns lend to the grandeur making it ideal for any occasion, big or small. The banquet options are cool for business conventions or events and covers about 61000 sq ft of area. There are 374 rooms and suites, 82 serviced apartments, five culinary brands, state-of-the-art meeting and convention spaces and a wellness experience spread across 24,000 sq ft, including, Kaya Kalp – The Royal Spa.
Both the ITC Sonar and the adjacent ITC Royal Bengal will be marketed together as one of the largest hospitality and MICE destinations in the Eastern region. Together, the two hotels will offer 693 rooms, suites and serviced apartments, 15 signature dining destinations, 22 meeting venues and a sprawling 1,00,000 sq ft of banqueting space.
