Riz Ahmed’s Bait expands global soundscape with Talwiinder’s ‘Blues’ joining Jorja Smith and Jay Sean

Joining a glittering lineup that includes global popstars Jorja Smith and Jay Sean is Talwiinder, who has released ‘Blues’ – another track from the Bait “inspired by” soundtrack – the third single from the upcoming album scheduled to release on April 16.

Singing in Punjabi, ‘Blues’ is hypnotic and allows Talwiinder’s voice to overlay the complexly layered percussion almost as an additional rhythmic instrument. The lyrics speak of self-belief and seeing hard work come to fruition. A singer, songwriter and producer, Talwiinder is a titan of the global music scene with almost 2 billion streams and 12 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone. His experimental production and vocal prowess have won him fans across the world.

The soundtrack album boasts a stellar cast of talent including rising DJ and producer Anish Kumar; Grammy winner, composer, singer and producer Aroof Aftab; Jungle and DnB legend MC Shabba D; iconic electronic music duo Original Unknown, BRIT and MOBO winning producer Amir Amor; vocal powerhouse Véyah; multi-platinum selling icon Jay Sean, and global star Jorja Smith.

Bait is a new six-part, genre-bending series that follows Shah Latif, an out-of-work British-South Asian actor whose life begins to spiral when he lands the final audition to play the next James Bond. What begins as a moment of opportunity quickly turns into a chaotic four-day journey as family, fame, identity and online scrutiny collide.

Music plays a central role in shaping the atmosphere of Bait. The soundtrack draws together a wide range of influences, reflecting the show’s hybrid cultural identity – from cinematic orchestration and psychedelic South Asian film music of the 1970s, to contemporary UK and South Asian artists. Bridging genres and generations, the music mirrors the series’ bold blend and exploration of different genres, crossing cultural boundaries to tell a global story.  

The release of the official soundtrack precedes the extended soundtrack album featuring music inspired by the show, which is out on April 16, and will come alongside the official music video for ‘Price Of It All’.

The album will feature music from global stars including artists such as Raf Saperra, KR$NA, The Twins, ENNY, Casisdead, AJ Tracey, Natasha Noorani, Talwiinder, Riz Ahmed and more.

‘Blues’ follows on from Jay Sean’s ‘Pulling Me Back’ ft. Véyah and Jorja Smith’s ‘Price Of It All’ – also the theme song - which was released in March.
