Travel alert: Ethiopian Airlines launches passenger flights between Bengaluru and Addis Ababa

If you are someone who has always wanted to visit the lesser explored country of Ethiopia popularly known as the Horn of Africa, here's some news. After Delhi and Mumbai, Ethiopian Airlines is now starting passenger flights from Bengaluru.

The largest aviation group of Africa is launching two flights between Kempegowda International Airport (BLR) and Addis Ababa Bole International Airport (ADD) on October 27 and on October 29, 2019. The flights will then operate between Tuesday and Sunday at late-night hours IST. 

What does this mean for the globe-trotter? Travelling to the countries in Northern Africa will be far more easier than before. The capital of Ehtiopia, Addis Ababa is connected to all other major destinations, additionally, the interesting and eclectic city has a lot to do as well.

Here's what to expect in Addis Ababa: It's the city of cafes with traditional coffee stalls and is known as the land of the finest Arabica coffee, so be sure you drink copious amounts of authentic coffee while you are there. For art lovers, Addis Ababa is a must visit because of its ever expanding art scene. For the nocturnal party animals, there are umpteen number of pubs particularly around the old city's old central Piazza neighbourhood. Those who like to try the local cuisine will not be disappointed, many traditional restaurants offer the staple injera, a spongy pancake-like bread that comes topped with meats, vegetables and hot sauces. The intrepid traveller will have a lot more to do not only at Addis Ababa but also in other destinations such as Lalibela, Gondar and Aksum.
