Sadat Hasan Manto’s heart-wrenching tale of the partition, Khol Do, will pull you down to the dark alleys of the controversial writers’ heart in a way that you have never experienced before.

Imagine sitting blindfolded and listening to the whispers and wails of Sakina. Imagine getting familiar with her scent, becoming her friend and changing her destiny. Imagine being a part of the story. Imagine being the story.

The Darkroom 2.0, organised by Rotary Club of Calcutta Chowrenghee in association with ShowCase events is bringing immersive theatre production in the city that will take you on a thrilling journey with its cast and crew. Directed by Tushar Dalvi, the production is being brought to the city by Mumbai-based Rangaai Theatre Company, one of the three immersive theatre companies in India.

Manto’s Khol Do, Premchand’s Kafan and Durga Poojo (A true story) by Anonymous, will be staged in the format that removes the stage thereby immersing audiences within the performance itself. The play will engage you with the stories at a different level, keeping you blindfolded. The characters will whisper in your ear, share their stories, interact with you and make you a part of their story. Organised in aid of charity, The Proposal by Anton Chekhov, another play with 360-degree immersive experience will also be staged.

ShowCase events, which is bringing immersive theatre in the city will stage the play on the following days:

The Darkroom 2.0: April 6 at 4.15pm at Daga Nikunj and on April 7 at 4pm at Kolkata Centre for Creativity.

The Proposal: April 5 and 7, 7pm at Kolkata Centre for Creativity and April 6 at 7.30 at Daga Nikunj
