South Indian actress Keerthy Suresh in her upcoming film Nadigaiyar Thilagam, plays the life story of yesteryear actress Savitri, who took the Telugu film industry by storm in the late 50’s and 60’s.

Keerthy has reportedly worn over 120 costumes in this bilingual biopic.

Speaking to the media about this, she said, “Even for some small scenes, I had to change costumes at least thrice.”

Reports reveal that the sarees that the actress wore was almost 50 years old and needed special care as they were paper-thin. Adding further to her comment, she said that the costumes were difficult to handle and as they could be easily torn off.

According to reports, the costumes were made in order to match the fabrics and designs of the earlier period. Some of them even belonged to the personal collections of director Ashwin Nag’s mother.

Speaking about her experience, Keerthy said that for her, it was a whole new experience as it took her back in time into a new era. Keerthy also recalled that she had to undergo six look tests before finalising the perfect look.

Nadigaiyar Thilagam is one of the most awaited biopics and is set to release on May 9.
