Reportedly, Ranbir's father Rishi Kapoor, who was undergoing treatment in the US and the rest of his family was stressed thinking if the Sanju actor will finally settle down or not. Apparently, Rishi Kapoor gave his son a go-ahead after which Ranbir Kapoor decided to pop the question to his girlfriend Alia Bhatt.
Reports also added that Ranbir and Alia got engaged during Akash Ambani's and Shloka Mehta's pre-wedding bash in Switzerland. Reportedly, the couple also hosted a grand party to celebrate their engagement.

The report also quoted a source who said that the couple is planning a January wedding and that their co-star Amitabh Bachchan, director Ayan Mukerji, producer Karan Johar, superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Salman Khan and Aamir Khan are all expected to attend the couple's wedding.
