Tollywood star Ram Charan Tej made a Bollywood debut with Zanjeer in 2013 - a remake of the 1973 cop drama by Amitabh Bachchan. The female lead of the 2013 bilingual film was Priyanka Chopra.

However, the film received negative reviews and didn’t make much of an impact on the box office.

In a recent interaction with a leading media organisation, Charan was asked when he will be seen in Bollywood again. Responding to that, he reportedly said, “It’s not as if I’m shying away from making a comeback in Bollywood. After all, at the end of the day, content plays a major role, and right content matters a lot and hopefully, I will be making a comeback in Bollywood next year with SS Rajamouli’s directorial RRR.”

RRR is his next film, which is being directed by the mastermind behind Baahubali, SS Rajamouli. This period film brings together two top Tollywood stars, Jr NTR and Charan for the first time. It also marks the Tollywood debut of Alia Bhatt.

Set in the 1920s pre-independent India, the entirely fictional story is based on two legendary freedom fighters, Alluri Seetha Ramaraju (Charan) and Komaram Bheem (NTR), both legendary Telugu freedom fighters from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively.

Meanwhile, Charan has also produced Chiranjeevi’s film Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy. The history drama also stars Sudeep, Jagapathi Babu, Vijay Sethupathi, Nayanthara, Anushka Shetty, Ravi Kishan and Tamannaah in important roles. This film also marks the Telugu debut of superstar Amitabh Bachchan.

The film will hit the screens on October 2, 2019, and will be released in five languages - Telugu, Hindi, Tamil, Malayalam, and Kannada.
