Deepika, Priyanka missing from Forbes' highest-paid actresses list, Scarlett leads again
Bollywood stars Priyanka Chopra and Deepika Padukone, both of whom created a mark with their work internationally, are out of the Forbes’ list of highest-paid female actors in the world, this year.
Topping the list is Marvel’s Black Widow, Scarlett Johansson. ScarJo was the highest-paid actress last year as well, owing to the 2018 blockbuster Avengers: Infinity War and this year’s $2.8 billion-grossing Avengers: Endgame. She also has a solo superhero film, Black Widow, to be released on May 2020.
Big Little Lies star Reese Witherspoon made a comeback to this year’s Forbes’ list. She was named third in the list with the earning of USD 35 million (approx Rs 250 crore). Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Aniston secured the fourth and the fifth position with earnings USD 34 million (approx Rs 243 crore) and USD 28 million (approx Rs 200 crore), respectively.
The others in the list are Kaley Cuoco ($25mn), newcomer Elisabeth Moss ($24mn), Margot Robbie ($23.5mn), Charlize Theron ($23mn) and Ellen Pompeo ($22mn).
Coming back to the Indian actresses, both Deepika and Priyanka didn’t have any big releases in 2019. Deepika was last seen in Padmaavat, and also made an appearance in Shah Rukh Khan’s Zero. Priyanka, on the other hand, made special appearances in Hollywood films like A Kid Like Jake and Isn't It Romantic?
