After 19 years, Mozart of Madras AR Rahman will be composing music for a film starring Kamal Haasan, that he describes as a "magnum opus". The music director took to Twitter recently to make the announcement. The duo last collaborated 19 years ago, in 2000, for Thenali

Interestingly, Kamal Haasan, who currently hosts the third season of Bigg Boss Tamil, had announced that Indian 2, directed by Shankar, would be his last film, as he has actively entered politics. However, AR Rahman, tweeted a picture of him with Ulaganayagan, tagging Lyca Productions and Raaj Kamal Films International hinting at the possibility of a new film, and wrote, "Happy and excited to collaborate with the one and only @ikamalhaasan himself on a magnum opus... Watch this space for more @RKFI @lycaproductions #RKFI #lycaproductions." (sic)

It was in fact, Kamal, who later confirmed that on Twitter that the film was Thalaivan Irukkindraan, a film that was earlier shelved. It is believed he will be shooting this film, once he wraps up Bigg Boss Tamil, Season 3. "Thanks ARR for strengthening the team with your participation. Very few projects feel good & right even as we develop it. Thalaivan Irukkindraan is one such. Your level of excitement for the project is very contagious. Let me pass it on to the rest of our crew." (sic), Kamal wrote on his timeline.
