Khushbu quits Twitter; had to keep her sanity intact, says the actress-politician
Actor, producer and politician Khushbu Sundar, in an unexpected move, quit Twitter on Tuesday. According to her, the decision was made because of the "over growing negativity on the site." The 49-year-old star reportedly told a news website that she quit Twitter in order to preserve her sanity.
“The negativity on Twitter was consuming me. I was becoming who I am not. I had to [quit] to prevail my sanity and keep it intact. I am not somebody who quits because of the trolls. For me, as a person, it was important that I remain who I am,” the actor said, according to reports.
While demanding regulatory measures to oversee the abuses people face regularly on the micro-blogging platform, she added, “Regulation definitely needs to be brought in. You say that there is a democracy. If you use your democratic powers to abuse me, I should be given the same powers to do the same to you. Just because I am a celebrity or a politician, does not mean I should not be able to enjoy the perks of being in a democratic country.”
However, there seems to be a way for her fans to get regular updates from the star."The negativity hasn't engulfed Instagram yet. I continue to be there," she assured.
