Bengaluru Police have reportedly booked the upscale restaurant Bastian, owned by actor Shilpa Shetty, for allegedly flouting operating-hour norms and hosting late-night parties in violation of regulations. The FIR was registered suo motu under Section 103 of the Karnataka Police Act at the Cubbon Park Police Station, as the outlet is located on St. Mark’s Road.

According to the police, Bastian was found functioning until 1.30 am on December 11, well past the permitted closing time. Cases have been filed against the establishment’s managers and staff for the alleged violations. A similar case has also been registered against Sour Berry Pub on Residency Road. As part of the investigation, statements from eight individuals, including pub staff members, have been recorded.

The action against Bastian comes weeks after Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing booked Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra for allegedly cheating a businessman of Rs 60.4 crore. The complainant, Deepak Kothari, has accused the couple and an unidentified associate of misusing funds invested in their now-defunct firm, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, between 2015 and 2023. The EOW is currently probing the matter.

Separately, the case against Bastian follows weeks after Shilpa Shetty and her husband Raj Kundra were booked by the Mumbai Police’s Economic Offences Wing in connection with an alleged Rs 60.4 crore cheating case. The complainant, Deepak Kothari, has claimed that the couple, along with an unidentified individual, diverted funds he invested in their now-closed company, Best Deal TV Pvt Ltd, between 2015 and 2023.

However, Shilpa Shetty and Raj Kundra’s lawyer had earlier rejected the allegations, and said that the dispute was entirely civil in nature and had already been settled by the NCLT Mumbai on October 4, 2024.
