Gypsy Rose Blanchard's partner Ken Urker has passed away due to a suspected drug overdose. The couple have a 1-year-old daughter, Aurora Raina. He was found dead in his bed at his house in Raceland, Louisiana, on Thursday, when he was about to turn 34 years old.
The Lafourche Parish Sheriff’s Department is investigating the death of Ken Urker. It is not clear what caused his death. According to Blanchard, it might be an accidental overdose, though she cannot tell for sure. “I don’t know if it was intentional or not,” she said. “He was not in a good state of mind lately.”
Gypsy Rose Blanchard has also mentioned that a substance was found, but she had not seen her father taking any drugs. She has mentioned that she found it difficult to figure out how fast things were happening. “I’m in disbelief. I can’t think,” she said, speaking of his sudden death, “I’ve screamed until my throat burns.”
Gypsy mentioned that Ken was a great dad and that he was not suffering from any addiction issues. She described him as a very loved man who will forever be Gypsy’s forever soulmate.
She further added, “Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved. He will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase.”
Gypsy Rose Blanchard also commented on the public scrutiny that Urker was getting. According to her, he was suffering from cyberbullying on social media sites such as TikTok and Reddit.
She said, "The cruelty directed toward him was something no human being should have to endure.” She felt that the criticism had a strong effect on him. Gypsy also hoped that his death would make people realise that there is always a human being at the end of the screen.
Who is Gypsy Rose Blanchard?
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is an American woman who became widely known after being convicted for her role in the 2015 murder of her mother, Clauddine “Dee Dee” Blanchard.
For years, Dee Dee allegedly subjected Gypsy to medical abuse, falsely claiming she suffered from several illnesses, including leukaemia and muscular dystrophy. The case is associated with Munchausen syndrome by proxy, now known as factitious disorder imposed on another.
In 2015, Gypsy and her then-boyfriend, Nicholas Godejohn, plotted to kill Dee Dee. Godejohn stabbed her to death, while Gypsy helped plan the murder. Gypsy pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in 2016 and was sentenced to 10 years in prison. She was released on parole in December 2023.
