The first horror film of the year promises to scare audiences like no other, aver the cast and crew of Amavas, who were in the city to promote the film in a city hotel. While the lead actress of the film, Nargis Fakri gave the event a miss, Sachiin Joshi, actor and producer, Ali Asgar and director Bhushan Patel were in attendance to promote the film, which will be released on February 8.

Patel, whose repertoire includes horror films like Ragini MMS 2Alone and others, informs that he loves horror as a genre. He explains, “I love the genre, I love getting scared, and that’s why I love scaring. I love horror films, and I believe in ghosts as well. And that is why I can make the film with more conviction.” He also says that he has been mulling over a couple of web series on the same genre.

Ali, who plays the role of a caretaker in his first horror film, brings a hint of comic relief in the film, but he points out that the comedy is not forced on the script. “It’s a character I have not done before, so I am quite excited about it. My character will bring subtle comedy to the film, but it should not be mistaken for a comedy-horror film. It’s a classic horror film,” explains Ali.

Sachiin, who plays the lead role in the film, and who has also produced the film, informs us that the unexpected twists and turns will break the myths associated with Hindi horror films. “The biggest USP of the film is the screenplay and the story, which is very difficult in classic horror films. The most important character in the film is actually Castle Goring, in London, which is haunted. The visual and sound effects have transformed the film to another level, and the audience is going to love it,” assures Sachiin, revealing that the sequel of Amavas will follow soon.

Commenting on the general inability of Indian horror films to match the experience of the genre in Hollywood, the director explains, “I wonder why a Hindi horror film is compared to the Hollywood film industry and why no other film? A Hollywood film has bigger budget, plus there are many other factors. You can’t compare us with them.”
