As Bigil song Singapenne gets leaked online, fans of Vijay drum up support
The song bears the distinct sounds of an AR Rahman composition, and was reportedly leaked from the sets of Bigil.
The film is being billed as a sports drama, with Vijay playing a football coach, and Nayantara in the female lead.
Following the incident, after the track was shared online, fans began posting messages of support to the Bigil team.
Bigil marks Vijay's third collaboration with Atlee after the blockbuster hits of Theri and Mersal, and it also marks a studio hattrick with Oscar-winner AR Rahman, following Mersal and Sarkar.
The first look of the film was released on June 22, on Vijay's birthday, and instantly went viral.
Rumours were also confirmed that Thalapathy will be seen in dual roles — as a father who's a local don and his son, the football player.
The film's plot is said to revolve around how the footballer coaches a women's team, and makes them a force to reckon with.
Even as the film's team has been closely guarding its details for a long time, there have been minor leaks, such as of the stadium set, and the looks of a couple of supporting actors, including Indhuja (of Meyaadha Maan fame).
The leak of the song Singapenne has shocked many fans, even as it is being shared extensively on social media.
The track has been sung by Rahman himself, and is a foot-tapping motivational number with powerful lyrics by Vivek.
Moving on from the disappointment of the leak, Vijay fans began hailing the song as the latest in a long list of inspiring numbers from the Vijay-AR Rahman team - in line with Ella Pugazhum Oruvanukke (Azhagiya Tamizh Magan), Aalaporaan Tamizhan (Mersal) and Oru Viral Puratchi (Sarkar).
The hashtag #Singapenne has in fact become a top trend on Twitter following the leak. Reports add that the Bigil team is currently investigating how the song was leaked in the first place.
