The hype around the new Harry Potter series is at an all time high following the recent trailer drop. The series is set to air on HBO this Christmas and as the new trio Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout take over the roles of Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, and Ron Weasley, they might just be under some real fan scrutiny. The real buzz is however around the reported salary of the new cast which has become the absolute talk of the town.
Adapted from author JK Rowling’s Harry Potter novels, this new series will explore the magical world of Hogwarts in a whole new set of storytelling. What’s truly driving the excitement around Harry Potter isn’t just the nostalgia, but the compelling narrative being built around an entirely new cast.
Now coming to the most intriguing part — the paycheck behind the magic. As per recent reports, the lead cast Dominic McLaughlin, Arabella Stanton, and Alastair Stout will receive an amount of £500,000 ($660k) each for their inaugural season.
Dominic and Alastair are both 12 years old, while Arabella is a year younger. At this very young age they have become multimillionaire. However, according to Coogan's Law, 15 percent of a minor’s earnings are reserved in a blocked trust account, and so they wouldn’t be allowed to spend the whole of it all at once. They will again be able to access their fund after they turn 18.
Additionally, in the UK as per new regulations, parents are prohibited from using their children’s fund. If such regulations are violated the parents could even face charges under theft and fraud statutes.
Back in the day when Daniel Radcliffe performed Harry Potter for the film Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, he received an amount of $1 million. While Emma Watson and Rupert Grint received a comparatively lesser amount.
