Designer Anavila Misra who has dressed the likes of Sonam Kapoor and Kalki Koechlin dropped by at Ogaan, Hyderabad to launch her Spring/Summer 2019 collection. The beautiful designs we saw are inspired by her travels to Vietnam and more so to the Sa Pa region.
Anavila says, “When you visit the remote areas of Vietnam, you realise it is such a vibrant culture, they still have their living crafts and these people are incredibly dextrous! The first time I went to Sa Pa, I was amazed to see how these people live in harmony with their environment. The women there create their own clothes and do their own embellishments. Although some of them might look like museum pieces they wear them on an everyday basis and comfortably so.”
The collection is woven around the ideas of easy movement mobility and minimalism and one can spot techniques like pleating, cording, embroidery, hand batik. In her designs, comfort is the key.
The Mumbai-based designer has used natural yarns such as cotton, linen and silk. The highlight of the collection is that it uses pure natural dyes apart from being entirely handwoven and handcrafted. The shades you can spot are refreshing natural hues of whites, beige and tones of peach, leaf green, indigo and charcoal. Perfect for the summers, we think!
