Seafood lovers, ahoy! Taj Malabar's Rice Boat pop-up in Chennai is going to be one 'meen' feast

Food enthusiasts in Chennai can now sample the finest seafood cuisine from Rice Boat (the iconic seafood restaurant from Taj Malabar, Cochin) at Raintree, Taj Connemara at an exclusive 10-day pop up from November 22 to December 1. And if you're wondering what's in store, the menu of Rice Boat is an amalgamation of the best of seafood, delicate use of local spices and of the cuisines of the orient and west that influenced culture and the ethnic food habits.

The team of chefs led by Chef Thomas George from Taj Malabar will showcase their culinary craft to guests at Raintree with a carefully designed menu. Savour Crab Ularthudosa (meat of mangrove crabs cooked with shallots and crushed pepper); Crab and coconut soup (delicate crab soup with coconut cream and finished with candied ginger); Soft shell crab (exotic soft shell crab crispy fried and served with spicy dip); Tiger prawn kashuvandi ularthiyathu (Cochin tiger prawns and cashew nuts with house special masala) and Karimeen porichathu (Karimeen is the most exotic fish from Kerala unique to the back waters, shallow fried with house special marinade).

Those with a sweet tooth can look out for  desserts that include a Tender Coconut Soufflé (delicate coconut dessert) and the much-loved Payasam (jaggery and rice flakes desserts finished with ghee and dry ginger powder).


At  Raintree, Taj Connemara. November 22 to December 1. For lunch and dinner. INR 1,750 plus taxes onwards.
