Last Saturday evening had us sipping on some soothing Virgin Mojito by the pool at the sampling session of Prego’s all-new Saturday buffet menu, Notti–Italiane (meaning Italian nights). The fine-dining restaurant of The Westin Hyderabad Mindspace is known for serving authentic Italian cuisine, and we were excited to find out what they have on offer in the new menu. Although the restaurant serves Italian every day, it’s only on Saturdays that they offer curated buffet dinners.
We begin with the Cream of Asparagus Soup. The bright green creamy soup is comforting and a great option for the health-conscious. We follow it up with a bowl of well-plated Watermelon Carpaccio. The refreshing paper-thin slices of sweet and crisp watermelon, topped with cheese and chocolate sauce, is perfect for the summer. If you’re looking for something more filling, opt for the Veg Antipasto platter, crispy Garlic Bread or Basil Scented Pulled Chicken.
Moving on to the main course, we try the Spaghetti Al Pesto. Made using the Pesto Genovese sauce, this dish is tangy, courtesy cherry tomatoes, oily basil, Parmesan cheese and nuts. Another variant we try is the Pollo Piccante Pizza. Served with garlic bread, tomatoes, herbs, and bell peppers, the thin-crust pizza topped with perfectly grilled chicken strips is soft till the last bite.
The buffet also includes a live counter that dishes out varieties of pasta, barbeque and pizzas. One can choose from a colourful line-up of sauces including tomato cream, spinach basil pesto and Aglio-e-olio with herb crumbs.
For desserts, we take bites of Frozen Mud Pie, which wins us over right away — a must-try for chocolate lovers. Among the other options, the delicious Tiramisu is a must-try.
