Monsoon is the best time to indulge in some hot bhaijiyas while sipping innumerable cups of tea. And, Mumbai, as we know it, has plenty of tapris for that but what if you want to go beyond and want to indulge in some pav-bhajis and sizzlers and ramen noodles or a warm bowl of soul? Don’t worry Mumbai has plenty of options to meet each and every craving and so does our monsoon food guide.

1. Chaat, pakoda and chill 



Blending the street food of Mumbai and Delhi and adding a pinch of their own twist, SodaBottleOpenerWala is offering a sumptuous range of Pakodas such as Marcha Na Cheese Poppers, Mangalorean Prawns and Coconut Bhajia, Twisted Papeta Bhajia, 3 Daal Ka Bhajiya and CCP – Chutney Paneer Pakoda. The chaat range features Palak Patta Pakoda Chaat, Raj Kachori Chaat, Classic Ragda Pattice, Delhi Aloo Chaat and Makkai Ki Chatpati Chaat.

2. Binge on some organic food 

Chembur-based Shalom Bar & Kitchen has introduced a few organic, homemade and quirky dishes to their menu using monsoon ingredients like beetroot and black rice. The new addition includes Handmade Beetroot Pizza where the bread is entirely made of beetroot, Handmade Black Ravioli with spinach, massaman curry and black rice, Handmade Beetroot fettuccine Pasta, Beetroot Burger, Black Pav Bhaji to list a few.

3. Chai-pakodas

What can be a better combination than chai and pakodas and the new monsoon menu at Talli Turmeric is offering plenty of both - Badshaahi Chai, Sulemani Chai, Masala Chai, Masoor Dala Vada, Palak and Potato Vada, Mysore Bonda, Mini Samosa among other options.

4. Ramen noodles and Japanese whiskey

A combination of ramen noodles and whiskey might appear awkward to some but the chefs at Yazu find them perfect to heat up your body in the monsoon. They are offering spicy ramen noodles and Shoyu ramen noodles (with pork or chicken) with Japanese whiskey.

5. Some out of the blue offers 

Out Of The Blue is offering Quesadilla, Chickpea and cottage cheese crochettes, Vietnamese spring roll, Mushroom Waffle Sandwich, Smoked Sausages, Spicy egg rolls among others.

6. Chai and samosa



Besides pakodas, if there is anything we swear by on rainy days, it is samosa! Tafoon is offering chai and samosas from different cities - Kashmiri Noon Chai, Masala Kulhad ki chai, Bengali Lebu Cha and Kahwa paired with Bihari Shingara, Punjabi Samosa, Gandana Samosa, Lahori Samosa and lastly Kheema Bolani.

7. Bombay on a platter 

With signature dishes Kale Cappuccino Soup, BBQ Paneer Fries, Paneer Soulvaki Gyro, Tandoori Mushroom Bao alongside fusion options like Tandoori Paneer PopCorn, Batata Wada Sliders, Dabeli Vol Au Vent, Paneer Chettinad Spaghetti, Bombay 49 has something to cater to the Mumbaikar in everyone. Besides, there is a live Chaat counter and a herbal tea counter for those who want to binge on some classic street food.

And, keeping them on mind, Borivali’s Dinshaws Xpress Cafe is having a street food festival featuring Pao Bhaaji Fondue, Cheesy Chaska Pao Bhaaji, Zabardast Chilli Cheese Toasts, Pakoda Platter, World Famous Chinese Bhel, Vada Pao Platter, SoBo Faluda With Ice Cream, Crazy Onion Rings and Gadbad Sundae to list a few items.
