Fabcafe Kolkata at Loudon Street is the new address for heathy bites
Health-conscious souls, you have news to rejoice. Situated at the heart of the city, at Loudon Street, Fabcafe, a bistro from the house of the retail giant Fabindia, becomes the first café in the city to have a contemporary menu which is nutritious and organic. Opened in the first week of this month, the 42-seater cafe, at the Fabindia Experience Centre is already a hit with the eatery almost full in the early hours of the evening.
We began our healthy gastronomy session with two drinks from their elaborate drinks menu that offers coffee, tea, coolers, cold brews, smoothies and shakes. We sipped on a glass of Wild Berry first — a combination of blueberry, raspberry and strawberry and we highly recommend it. The citrusy Glow Hydration, a concoction of coconut water, aloe vera, orange, pineapple and chia seeds makes for an ideal morning sip. The menu also has Turmeric Tonic, which has therapeutic properties. Not to forget, we also sampled their Nolengur Cold Coffee that comforted us with the warmth of jaggery, the winter delight, making us forget for a moment that it’s summer.
We decided to follow the nutritious route further and opted to start with a Shakarkandi Tarabooj Salad. The lettuce salad with roasted sweet potato and fresh watermelon was enhanced with the crunchy roasted pumpkin seeds and a zesty citrusy dressing. The sweet taste of the potato and the juicy red fruit hit the right notes. Continuing on the healthy gastronomy trail, next we tasted their Parsi Chicken Dhansak pairing it with Quinoa Chapati. The soft chapatis tasted amazing with the chicken preparation that is slow cooked with lentils. We were surprised to know that the menu also has Keto Chicken Biryani, Kathal Quinoa Biryani and Chicken Brown Rice Biryani.
Their Kids menu is worth checking out with delectable dishes like Chicken pizza on a quinoa crust, Margarita pizza on Quinoa crust, wheat pasta with cheese sauce — ensuring health in every bite.
