Gayatri Oberoi, who portrayed Geeta opposite SRK in the 2004 hit film Swades, is making news once again. She married billionaire Vikas Oberoi, head of Oberoi Realty a year after Swades' release, completely removing herself from the public eye to concentrate on raising a family. She has since reappeared in a new role as a design curator for her husband's real estate conglomerate.
The couple’s vision for their dream home dates back to 2015. What they eventually built is a nine-storey, 75,000-square-foot residence perched by the sea in Juhu with interiors helmed by celebrated Italian designer Piero Lissoni.
The home has two separate entrances and a circular driveway, along with two distinct staircases — one for guests, one reserved for the family — each given its own architectural character. Piero has spoken about designing the home with intention down to its smallest corners, rather than treating its size as an excuse for excess.
The floor plan looks almost like a boutique hotel, a comparison Vikas Oberoi has reportedly made himself. Two basement levels are dedicated to parking and wellness, housing a private gym, a spa, and a 12-seater home theatre. The floors from ground level to the third are designed around entertainment and hosting.
The amenities extend upward, too: the residence tops off with a sea-facing rooftop infinity pool, giving the family an uninterrupted view of the Juhu coastline. The kitchen is fitted out by Molteni, the Italian luxury design house — a detail in keeping with the home's overall high-end, design-first sensibility.
Beyond the architecture, the residence doubles as a showcase for the Oberois' art collection. Works by some of India's most celebrated modern artists are woven into the interiors, including pieces by MF Husain, Ravinder Reddy and Manjit Bawa.
Within the project, the couple reportedly split creative responsibilities: Vikas took the lead on the architectural layout, while Gayatri focused on the interiors — a natural extension of her current role as a design curator at Oberoi Realty. The result, by most accounts, is a home built as much around light and modernist restraint as it is around scale.
